Tabard Inn Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings
The Tabard Inn is gorgeous! So rich in history and culture! A-must visit in DC! Wonderful and super friendly staff. Amazing food! Try the eggs Benedict with crab cakes and the spring salad (hollandaise sauce on the side ;)) —a true gastronomic delight! The Tabard donut is a hit—loved it so much! I will be back and I hope to stay there!
I grew up in DC and loved the Tabard Inn, but until recently hadn't stopped in in a long while. I’ve been missing out! Following a visit to the Australian Embassy exhibition, my friends and I walked the short distance, and enjoyed a delightful weekday lunch in the dining room. Such a friendly, warm, creatively designed atmosphere with a feeling of past and present convivially welcoming us in. The menu choices and service were wonderful and our food delicious. I look forward to returning to sit in their cozy wood-paneled lounge with conversational seating and fireplace next time. For atmosphere, they have it all - outdoor patio, cozy fireplace lounge, welcoming bar seating, and vintage restaurant design. Even the restroom design is engaging. A great spot!
I had a truly memorable experience at the Tabard Inn Restaurant in March. From the moment I arrived—without a reservation, no less—the staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. I was invited to sit in the cozy, historic tavern room and enjoy a coffee while I waited for a table. To my surprise and delight, the coffee was on the house—just one of many thoughtful touches that made the evening feel special. Once seated, the service remained top-notch. Attentive without being intrusive, the staff created a relaxed and gracious atmosphere. I ordered a beautifully prepared fish dish, paired with a glass of wine and finished with dessert—all of which were outstanding. The flavors were fresh, balanced, and comforting, reflecting the charm and care that radiate through the entire experience. I truly can’t rave enough about this place. It’s rare to find a restaurant that makes you feel so genuinely welcomed and well cared for. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
I have been a long time client of this Restaurant and a group of friends and I spent many Saturdays brunches there and this was a Saturday brunch for a fact well prepared- service very good atmosphere. great although I regret the patio being so enclosed now instead of the old parachute being stretched as a tent for the sun that was so charming it's just not the same the room upstairs is quaint not as good as the main room. I still love the one at the top of the stairs. This is how it used to be and it's still really nice -recommended.
Excellent food, great service, wonderful setting. I had a Fried Chicken Sandwich with Garlic Herb Fries ($17) for lunch and ate my Tabard Donut starter ($2) for dessert. The heated courtyard was the perfect place to enjoy a good meal.
I am glad that Tabard Inn came up in my searches for restaurants close to my hotel. I was at Tabard Inn twice, once for happy hour and the next day for lunch. While the food is good (not spectacular), the ambiance is exceptional. Tabard Inn is a historic welcoming space that includes a beautiful quiet lounge for drinks and light food for happy hour and a nice charming bar and dining area. The excellent servers are super prompt and friendly.
Came here on a Wednesday evening. The inn is beautiful and I loved the bar and dining area. It felt like a window to the past. My non alcoholic drinks were delicious! Our servers were very attentive to us which I appreciated. Unfortunately I was not very hungry so I didn’t get an entree but got little things. The oysters were amazing. Mashed potatoes were missing a little more butter/flavor. The fritters were tart so it wasn’t for me. I want to come back and try an entree and will likely change my rating based on that cause all others I was with enjoyed their main!
This restaurant is one of the hidden gems of the Dupont Circle neighborhood. A prime location for the business lunch. Serveral brunch-inspired dishes were available. The seevice is so warm and welcoming. I missed their brussel sprouts but the Leek soup was very rich as a starter. I had the Tabard Omlete with a side of kale. My colleague had the salad.
